Some workers at Reynolds American will be looking for new jobs after being laid off Tuesday, according to several employees affected by the layoffs.
Employees said the layoffs were a shock to some, especially to those who had been with Reynolds American for several years.
Several employees from the Tobaccoville plant told WXII they were laid off Tuesday morning.
"Everything I have is associated with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, and now it's nothing," said Kandice Weller, a 32-year employee who lost her job.
Last month, Reynolds American reported that the company was conducting an in-house review and that layoffs would affect both hourly and salaried jobs at Reynolds American, RAI Services, and many other departments in the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
At this time, it is unclear the number of employees that are affected by the layoffs.
